She respects her teachers and friendly with her classmates. She never fights with anyone. She is a well-mannered student. She is good in dancing activities. She also performed in Annual Function and in the inter school Sports competition (kho-kho). She is known for her energetic personality, love for dancing and talkative nature.
Problem of the child: She is active and good in co-curriculum activities but she doesn’t pay much attention towards her studies. She got distracted and disrupts class though she is confident and outgoing. She attended school only on event days. She wants to became an actress.
Steps taken by teacher: As teacher observed kavya’s talkative nature may be a sign of seeking attention, she provided her positive reinforcement/appreciation for her small participation as she is comfortable in her appreciation.
Teacher also focussed her to ask more questions during teaching so that she could involve in studies and channelize her energy.
Teacher also discussed with her parent the reason of absenteeism and disinterest. Her mother promised to send her school regularly. Class teacher set clear goals for attendance and academics. She informed her and her parent that she can participate in cultural programs if she achieves good grades and attends the school regularly.
Outcome: With the steps taken by the teacher, kavya’s attendance has improved and she started to pay attention in her studies along with co-curricular activities. Her energy is channelized in right direction now to some extent.
I hope she will show improvement in academics along with co-curricular/extra-curricular activities.
I wish her good luck for future.
Student’s Name: Aayush
Class: III - A
Age: 8 years Background of the student: Aayush lives with his family in nuclear family. His father has a private job and mother manages the house. He has an elder sister sharda, studies in 9th standard in Government school.
Problem of the student: After the observation of class teacher, Aayush was little bit aggressive by nature, often he fought with the other students in classroom. The helper of the school Ms. Indu reported to the teacher that Aayush twisted her hand as she was trying to hold his hand when he was running in corridor during lunch time. Due to his aggressive behavior, he did not pay attention to his studies.
Steps initiated by the teachers : Class teacher observed his behavior continuously and made a plan to resolve his problem by counselling.
She started Aayush’s counselling with “talk therapy”. She encouraged him to do friendly behavior with his classmates. She also started to use positive reinforcement (appreciated his every little efforts). He was also chosen a class monitor for one month and allotted some class responsibilities for small tasks. Along with her efforts, she also communicated with his parents and discussed regarding it. She suggested his mother to appreciate him for his little efforts at home also.
Conclusion : After 2-3 sessions of counselling, Aayush behaviour has got changed. He admitted that he should not fight with his classmates. His learning level has also improved along with co-curricular activities.
Now Aayush is doing very well if we talk about his behaviour towards his classmates and other people at home but needs continuous observation for effective result.
Closure : I hope that Aayush will show improvement in his behaviour and studies. My best wishes are with him.
